Two days and one night from Istanbul by plane, with pickup from your hotel between 04:15 and 06:00, roundtrip flights, transfers at both ends and the balloon morning added on request.
Updated 16 October 2026
Two days, one night, from $687 per adult, groups of up to 14, rated 4.9 ★ (482 reviews). The price covers roundtrip flight tickets between Istanbul and Cappadocia, roundtrip airport transfers in both cities, a night in a boutique hotel, breakfast, lunch, skip-the-line museum entrance tickets and a professional licensed guide in English. Balloon flight tickets sit outside the price, together with drinks at lunch, alcoholic drinks, personal spending and extra activities. The listing also states there are no assistant services waiting for you at the airports, so you follow the transfer arrangements rather than a meet-and-greet desk.
Your Istanbul pickup lands between 04:15 and 06:00, from any hotel or address in the city, because the schedule uses the first flight out, usually 06:40 and subject to availability. Two days is tight for the ground the itinerary covers: Göreme Open Air Museum, Kaymaklı Underground City, Paşabağ fairy chimneys, Devrent, Pigeon Valley, Uçhisar Castle, Avanos, Red Valley, Love Valley and the Göreme panorama.
The skip-the-line tickets matter more than they sound. Göreme Open Air Museum carries a Ministry tariff of €20 for foreign visitors, and Kaymaklı €13; both are inside the included entrance tickets, so you walk past the box office. The museum was a monastic centre from the 4th to the 13th century, opened to visitors in 1967, and the official record lists ten monuments inside the enclosure, among them Elmalı, Saint Barbara, Serpent, Dark, Saint Catherine, Çarıklı and Tokalı churches, painted straight onto the rock. It sits about 2 km east of Göreme town. Kaymaklı has eight floors, four of them unearthed, lit and open, with storage rooms, wineries and kitchens on the third level and an andesite block drilled with 57 holes for crushing and grinding; it lies 20 km from Nevşehir and opened to the public in 1964.
Pigeon Valley runs between Uçhisar and Göreme and is normally walked one-way as a 4 km route, so expect the guide to set a start and an end point rather than a loop. Love Valley is where balloons often land, reached from the north by a dirt road that only takes two-wheel-drive vehicles in dry weather. Devrent and Paşabağ are short stops on the Avanos side of the loop.
From $687 per adult for 2 days with flights, transfers, a boutique hotel, breakfast, lunch, skip-the-line museum tickets and a licensed guide, rated 5.0 ★ by nobody else on this page but 4.9 ★ across 482 reviews here. Add the balloon in the special requests field when you book.

Balloon tickets are an add-on here, so write the request into the special requests section at the moment of booking and ask for the price then. Treat it as the single fixed point of the trip rather than something to sort out on arrival. With only one night in Cappadocia, you get one shot at a morning window, and balloons flew on 223 days in 2025, which left roughly 140 days with no flights at all. If you can shape your dates, pick a date outside March and April; those are the windiest months and the weakest for take-off clearance.
Flying is a morning business. The morning period runs from 30 minutes before sunrise to 11:00, and commercial passenger flights only go when wind speed is at or below 10 knots. The Slot Service Centre publishes a per-sector flag for each dated window in the LTB1 (Kapadokya) area, and under a red or yellow flag no departure clearance exists. Even on a green flag the pilot and operator make the final call on launching.
Alarm times follow the calendar. Sunrise over Göreme is around 05:15 at the June solstice, 06:03 in mid-April, 06:48 in mid-October and 07:53 at the December solstice. Hotel pickup for a flight falls roughly 60 to 90 minutes before sunrise depending on where you sleep, so a June morning starts at about 04:15, two early alarms in a row on this itinerary. Exact pickup times are confirmed the evening before, once the next morning's flight plan is set.
A balloon morning is listed as three to four hours in total, not three hours in the air: about 30 minutes of inflation, 60 to 90 minutes of flight, 30 minutes of ceremonies and around 30 minutes of transfer each way. Flights run from tree level up to about 900 metres above ground, with a typical cruising band of 300 to 1,000 metres. The launch field, the direction and the landing area are chosen on the morning itself from the wind and the authorised area, so no valley can be promised; flights commonly track over Göreme, Love Valley, Rose Valley, Red Valley and Çavuşin.
Dress for 05:00 at 1,224 m, not for the afternoon. Average daily minima at the Nevşehir station are 13.7°C in July and 13.6°C in August, about 15°C below the daytime maximum, 5.1°C in April, 10.5°C in September and −3.6°C in January. Closed walking or sports shoes with grip and flat soles, no sandals or heels; trousers, long sleeves and a jacket in spring and autumn; light trousers and a sweatshirt in summer; a heavy coat, gloves, beanie, scarf, two layers of socks and thermal underwear in winter. Taller passengers want a hat because of the radiant heat from the burners.
Check who in your party can fly before you request tickets. The usual minimum is about age 6, with a height test of roughly 1.20 to 1.40 m so a child can see over the basket edge. Everyone stands for the whole flight, climbs in and out unaided and holds the landing position for about five minutes. Listed exclusions include recent surgery, severe hip or back pain, fragile bones, use of crutches, a cast on a broken bone and conditions affecting judgement; pregnant passengers, and anyone who suspects they may be pregnant, are advised not to fly.
The version on this page is the most reviewed of the four and the only one that spells out skip-the-line museum tickets, breakfast and lunch, boutique hotel and transfers at both ends in one price. The alternatives are listed in dollars or at a lower euro price with fewer reviews behind them, so check what each one includes before you compare the number. On all four, the balloon is an option you request, never an assumption.
Decide by your dates. Coming from Istanbul for a weekend and happy to have flights, hotel and guide arranged, take this two-day trip and request the balloon in writing. Already sleeping in Göreme with one dawn available, the full classic balloon morning with the champagne ceremony and door-to-door transfer is from $126, and the sunrise flight is from $90 if the budget is tight. With a second day on the ground, the Red (North) Tour is from $33 for 6-7 hours and the Green (South) Tour from $33 for 7-9 hours. If the flags go red on your one morning, the 2-hour sunset ATV ride over Love Valley and Rose Valley is from $40.
