A Cappadocia Red Tour is the northern day loop out of Göreme, and the six tours here follow broadly the same line: Uçhisar Castle, the Göreme panorama, Devrent Valley, Paşabağ, Love Valley, Çavuşin and the pottery town of Avanos, 18 km north of Göreme. Listed durations run from 6 to 8 hours. The guide works in English on all six, and the driving legs are short, since Göreme sits 15 km east of Nevşehir and 5 km west of Ürgüp.
The rock-cut museum stop is where the itineraries split. Three of these tours put Göreme Open Air Museum on the stop list, the monastic enclosure about 2 km east of town that was in use from the 4th to the 13th century and holds ten listed monuments, among them the Elmalı, Saint Barbara, Serpent, Dark and Çarıklı churches; it opens 08:00 to 19:00 daily from 1 April to 1 October and 08:00 to 17:00 from 1 October to 1 April. The other three go to Zelve instead, where a single €12 ticket admits you to both Zelve and Paşabağ. Göreme Open Air Museum admission is €20 for foreign visitors with the Dark Church €6 on top, which is why it matters whether your tour has entrance fees in the price or as an option you tick.
Lunch is the second real difference: included on three of the six, $11 extra on the Open Air Museum tour, excluded on the underground city tour, and not listed at all on the classic route. Drinks are extra on every listing that mentions them. Group size varies too, from the small-group minivans up to the 16-seat groups of the all-included version.
Timing fits around a balloon morning without much effort. Flights sit in the window from 30 minutes before sunrise to 11:00, so a northern loop starting mid-morning uses the rest of the daylight. Keep the Green Tour south for a second day if you have one.
First trip, one day on the ground, no appetite for extras to pay through the day: the small group Red (North) Tour, 6 to 7 hours from $33, with hotel pickup and drop-off, a professional guide, driver/guide, lunch and all fees and taxes.
Lowest price with lunch still in it: the Göreme, Zelve, Paşabağ and Avanos route, 7 to 8 hours from $17, with hotel pickup, an English-speaking guide, an air-conditioned vehicle and entrance fees when the option you choose includes them.
Underground on the same day: the full-day tour at 6 to 8 hours from $18 adds Özkonak Underground City and Pigeon Valley with private door-to-door transport, and you buy lunch yourself.
Longest day and the museum in writing: the 8-hour small-group tour from $29, covering Zelve, Çavuşin, the Avanos pottery and a carpet workshop, with lunch at $11 extra.
Guide and transport only, because you want to choose your own tickets and your own lunch: the classic route, 6 to 7 hours from $27.
One price and no decisions left: the all-included day, 8 hours from $27, with entrance and park fees, a traditional Cappadocian lunch, parking, hotel pick-up and the insurance required by Tourism Law No. 1618.
